Conservation Easement

139.8 acres (38.3 acres marsh)

Funded by the Charleston County Greenbelt Program

Adjacent to National Scenic Byway 174, Store Creek, and the historic Wescott Road, the Governor’s Bluff property lends scenic views and conservation buffers to the roads and creek. Over 100 acres of secondary growth maritime and upland forest provide prime habitat for wildlife. Maritime forest also buffers the land from hurricane winds and prevents erosion of highland adjacent to creeks. The property’s size and location next to other conserved properties, on both sides of Store Creek, contributes to a significant wildlife corridor.
