Conservation Easement

82.65 acres (0.9 acres marsh)

Funded by the Charleston County Greenbelt Program

This portion of historic Sunny Side Plantation boasts mixed hardwood forest with many grand live oaks and magnolias. Many parts of the property have not been farmed or timbered for 100 years. Saltmarsh fronting Store Creek provides habitat for commercially valuable species such as blue crabs and saltwater fish. The property’s size and location next to other conserved properties provides a large area of unfragmented wildlife habitat.
