Public Access Preserve Property
3.69 acres (1.82 acres marsh)
Funded by the Charleston County Greenbelt Program
The Ocella Creek Point – Access Tract is not yet open to the public.
Nestled in the upper reaches of Ocella Creek, this property protects ecologically valuable maritime fringe forest habitat, relict Sea Island Cotton marsh field remnants, and public views along both the creek and historic Point of Pines Road. This protected property directly borders the publicly accessible Botany Bay Plantation WMA/HP and helps buffer and expand it’s benefits to wildlife and the public.
EIOLT plans to transfer ownership and management of this property to SCDNR to expand Botany Bay and its public access opportunities.
